Conversations, Connection and Well-Being at Westwood
Earlier this month, Westwood employees came together for Autour d’un BBQ (Community BBQ), a two-day event focused on mental health awareness, employee well-being and workplace connection.
Organized in partnership with the site’s Global Health Committee, the event gave employees an opportunity to step away from their daily routines and participate in conversations about issues that affect individuals, families and workplaces across our communities.
As part of the program, representatives from the Attends pas (Don’t Wait) initiative delivered a presentation on mental health and suicide prevention. The initiative encourages individuals experiencing psychological distress to seek help early and raises awareness of available support resources. Employees also visited an addiction support information booth to learn more about services available in the region.
For Westwood and IAMGOLD, creating opportunities like this is an important part of supporting a healthy workplace. Just as we prioritize physical safety, we recognize the importance of mental well-being and the role that awareness, education and open conversation can play in helping people access support when they need it.
The event also included dedicated time for employees to complete the 2026 Employee Listening Survey, providing an opportunity to share feedback and help shape the employee experience at IAMGOLD.
Beyond the presentations, the gathering gave colleagues time to connect and enjoy a summer BBQ together. The meal, catered by Gouttes Dorange, was a hit, and Boréalait’s fresh sundaes quickly became a crowd favourite.
Perhaps the most memorable moment came when one of the biggest rainstorms of the season rolled through in the middle of the event. Despite the weather, employees stayed engaged, shared a few laughs and continued making the most of the day together.
Events like Autour d’un BBQ remind us that a strong workplace is built not only through the work we do, but also through the support, conversations and connections we create with one another.
Thank you to the Global Health Committee, the organizers, presenters and everyone who participated and helped make the event a success.
