Item 7.01.	Regulation FD Disclosure.

Sonic Automotive, Inc. (the “Company”) announced with deep sadness that Mr. O. Bruton Smith, the Company’s Founder and Executive Chairman, died on June 22, 2022. Prior to serving as the Company’s Executive Chairman, Mr. Smith served as the Company’s Chairman and Chief Executive Officer from the Company’s organization in 1997 until 2015 and was a leader in the retail automotive industry since 1966.
