Kinross leadership joins First Nation partners on fishing trip at Viking Island Lodge

Kinross Gold Corp (KGC)

This summer, representatives from Kinross’ Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and representatives from the local Great Bear team once again joined our First Nations partners on a two-day fishing trip at Viking Island Lodge, located approximately 30 kilometres west of Red Lake, Ontario. The annual trip serves as an opportunity to further build our relationship based on trust, honesty and open dialogue with the Wabauskang and Lac Seul First Nations. The group created memories outside of the workplace, sharing common interests and the tradition of fishing. Kinross representatives in attendance included Paul Rollinson, CEO, Geoff Gold, President, Will Dunford, Executive Vice-President and Chief Technical Officer, Eric Lamontagne, Senior Advisor, Canada Projects, Dominic Channer, Vice-President, Community Relations and Sustainability, and Ian Russell, Special Projects Advisor, Great Bear. In addition to members of our leadership team, Chief Bill Petiquan of the Wabauskang First Nation attended the trip, as well as other key members of the Nations including Reggie Bacon, Clayton Littledeer and Elvis Trout. Over the course of two days, attendees savored their time on the lake, bonding in their search for the elusive ‘Walleye’! The group then enjoyed a traditional ‘fish fry’ at the Island for lunch where they celebrated their successful days of fishing and relationship-building. “This year, we had the opportunity to bring together members from our leadership team, the local Great Bear team and our First Nations partners from Wabauskang and Lac Seul for our annual fishing trip at Viking Island Lodge. This beautiful fly-out location brings us the opportunity to enjoy camaraderie, the spectacular weather and food and of course, some amazing Walleye fishing! The trip was a great success that once again created lasting memories and reinforced strong bonds between Kinross and our First Nation partners,” said Ian Russell.
