A Summer of Community, Culture and Connection

The summer of 2026 was a busy and rewarding season for Discovery as we proudly supported dozens of events, initiatives, and organizations across Northeastern Ontario. From community celebrations and youth programs to sporting events, cultural gatherings, and Indigenous community events, our sponsorships reflected our commitment to investing in the people and communities where we live and work. Throughout July and August, Discovery was honoured to support a wide range of events including Canada Day celebrations in Chapleau, local fishing derbies, golf tournaments, youth camps, concerts, festivals, and community fundraisers. We were particularly proud to support programs that promote education and career exploration, including the Mining Matters Summer Camp and the Skills Ontario Trades & Technology Summer Camp, helping introduce young people to future opportunities in skilled trades and mining-related careers. Discovery was privileged to support the Matachewan First Nation Summer Camp, the Michipicoten Youth & Elders Gathering, and the annual powwows hosted by Chapleau Cree First Nation, Mattagami First Nation, Apitipi Anicinapek Nation, and Matachewan First Nation. These events provided valuable opportunities to celebrate culture, strengthen relationships, and learn from one another. Community events such as the Chapleau Drag Races, Porquis Stampede & Rodeo, Festa Italiana, Bannerman Park Summer Concerts, and numerous charity golf tournaments brought people together while supporting important local organizations and causes. Discovery was proud to play a role in helping these events succeed and continue their positive impact across the region. As summer came to a close, Discovery also proudly supported the Launch Canada Challenge Awards Dinner, recognizing innovation, leadership, and the next generation of Canadian STEM talent. Together, these sponsorships represent more than financial support—they reflect Discovery's commitment to building strong communities, fostering meaningful partnerships, and creating opportunities for future generations. We extend our sincere thanks to the organizers, volunteers, participants, and community leaders who made these events possible and look forward to supporting many more community initiatives in the years ahead.
