Let me begin by providing an overview of our business performance based on the key points summarized in the presentation. More detailed financial results will be discussed later by our CFO, Mr. Kubo. First, let me comment on the business environment. Looking back over the past three months, military conflicts involving the United States, Israel and Iran continued, and uncertainty in the business environment remained high. Factors contributing to this uncertainty included concerns over potential restrictions on navigation through the Strait of Hormuz, fluctuations in energy prices, risks related to raw material procurement, and rising logistics costs. Although there were signs of progress toward a ceasefire in June, tensions involving the United States and Iran intensified again in July, and we believe the outlook for the region remains uncertain. As for the impact on our business, particularly in Europe and North America, we have experienced increases in fuel, transportation and electricity costs as a result of higher energy prices. In response to these cost pressures, we have continued to implement price management and cost improvement initiatives, and our approach remains unchanged. At the same time, depending on the region, the impact of energy price trends and changes in customers' production plans may emerge with a time lag. We will therefore continue to monitor developments carefully. Turning to the electronics industry, demand for servers used in data centers continues to expand, driven by the growth of generative AI. We believe the semiconductor market remains robust, particularly in memory-related applications. Semiconductor manufacturers are generally operating at high utilization rates, and capital investment, especially in leading-edge technologies, continues to be strong. We view this market environment as a tailwind for our electronics business. Next, let me highlight our financial performance. Despite the uncertain business environment, we continued to execute price management and productivity improvement initiatives, resulting in improved profitability compared with the same period of the previous year.

Mr. Kubo will provide more detailed explanations of each region and business segment later. For now, I would like to focus on several key highlights. In the United States segment, we maintained the profitability improvement trend established in the second half of the previous fiscal year and further improved profitability year on year. We believe this reflects the steady progress of our price management and productivity enhancement initiatives. In addition, volumes have increased, primarily driven by new on-site projects, and we are seeing signs of a broader recovery in demand. In the Asia-Oceania segment, core operating margin reached a double-digit level. This was supported by a recovery in shipment volumes of electronic materials gases for semiconductor applications, together with effective cost control and price management initiatives. We will continue our efforts in price management, cost control and productivity enhancement in order to achieve sustainable improvements in profitability. Let me now turn to capital investment. Capital expenditures in the first quarter totaled JPY 28.5 billion, an increase from the same period of the previous fiscal year. Despite ongoing uncertainty, including tensions in the Middle East, we have continued to execute investments steadily while carefully monitoring our customers' production and investment plans.
Investment in facilities that support the production and supply of industrial gases remains essential for expanding our business and growing earnings. While maintaining strict investment discipline and risk management, our fundamental policy remains unchanged: to capture growth opportunities and expand our business through proactive investment. I will provide further details on our capital expenditure backlog later.

Finally, let me touch on several recent developments.

Next, I would like to discuss our capital expenditure backlog, which represents our planned investment pipeline going forward.
As in previous quarters, the chart shows the composition of our planned capital investments by customer industry. As of the end of June 2026, our capital expenditure backlog stood at approximately JPY 150 billion, compared with approximately JPY 180 billion at the end of the previous quarter, representing a decrease of roughly JPY 30 billion. While several new projects were added during the quarter, the reduction was primarily attributable to the progress and completion of existing projects, including the hydrogen supply project for the Numaligarh Refinery in India, which more than offset the value of newly added projects. Please also note, as indicated in the note at the top of the slide, that the backlog includes projects with a value of approximately JPY 500 million or more. Projects below this threshold are not included. With that, I would now like to hand the call over to our CFO, Mr. Kubo, who will provide a detailed explanation of our financial results. Mr. Kubo, please proceed.

We will now take questions in the order received until the scheduled end time. Morgan Stanley MUFG Securities, Mr. Watanabe, please go ahead.
Watanabe [Q]: This is Watanabe from Morgan Stanley.
I have two questions.
My first question relates to the capital expenditure backlog. Earlier, you explained that the backlog declined from approximately JPY 180 billion at the end of the fourth quarter to approximately JPY 150 billion at the end of the first quarter. My memory may not be entirely accurate, but could you clarify how the projects related to Nippon Ekitan and Shunan Sanso are reflected in the backlog figures? Specifically, I would appreciate your comments on when these projects were included in the backlog and where they are positioned within the chart.
Watanabe [A]: Thank you for your question.
Mr. Kubo, our CFO, will respond to your question.
Mr. Kubo, please go ahead.
Kubo [A]: With respect to the projects you mentioned, they are included in the "Others" category shown in the pie chart.
That answers your first question.
Watanabe [Q]: Just to confirm, is it correct to understand that both the Nippon Ekitan and Shunan Sanso projects are included in the "Others" category? As I recall, the announcement regarding Nippon Ekitan was made in May, while the disclosure regarding Shunan Sanso was made in July. In terms of project size, I believe the Nippon Ekitan project is likely the larger of the two.

I am asking because the timing at which these projects were included in the backlog may help us better understand the reason for the decline in the backlog balance. Could you provide some additional color on when these projects were incorporated into the backlog figures? Kubo [A]: Of the approximately JPY 150 billion backlog shown here, the Nippon Ekitan project is included in the "Others" category. However, the Shunan Sanso project has not yet been included in the backlog figures.
Watanabe [Q]: I see. Thank you for your clarification.
So, if I understand correctly, the Shunan Sanso project will be reflected in the backlog going forward, likely from the second quarter onward, and it would also be included in the "Others" category. Is that correct?
In addition, if possible, could you provide some indication of the scale of the investment? For example, should we think about it as being on the order of JPY 10 billion, JPY 20 billion, or some other level? Any color on the approximate size of the project would be appreciated.
Kubo [A]: Regarding the timing of its inclusion in the backlog, your understanding is correct. The project is ります。

However, with respect to the size of the investment, we have not disclosed the amount associated with the project.
I apologize, but we are unable to provide any further details on the investment amount at this time.
Watanabe [Q]: Just to confirm, is it correct to understand that the Shunan Sanso project is smaller in scale than the Nippon Ekitan project?

Kubo [A]: Yes, that understanding is correct.
Watanabe [Q]: Thank you.
My second question relates to the Asia-Oceania segment.

The segment appears to have improved significantly not only on a year-on-year basis but also compared with the previous quarter.
Given that the industrial gas business acquired in Australia may be affected by seasonal factors, could you elaborate on the main drivers behind the improvement in the first quarter relative to the fourth quarter? Was the improvement primarily attributable to the contribution from the acquired business in Australia, or was it driven more by the recovery in the electronics-related business?

In addition, if possible, could you comment on how the actual performance compared with your original expectations? Specifically, was the pace of recovery stronger than planned, or was it generally in line with your assumptions?

Let me first provide an overview, and then Mr. Kubo can add further details if necessary.
From the perspective of performance versus our original plan, the electronics business has been performing better than we had expected at the time of the fourth quarter of the previous fiscal year.
With respect to Australia, in addition to the contribution from the acquired business, LPG-related operations have also benefited from favorable market conditions, which have led to higher selling prices and a positive earnings contribution. That is the overall situation. Kubo [A]: As Mr. Watanabe mentioned, those comments primarily relate to the trend compared with the fourth quarter.
First, the electronics business continued to perform very strongly in the first quarter, maintaining the favorable momentum we saw previously. In the Oceania business, while the contribution from the Coregas acquisition was certainly a factor, we also saw improvement excluding the acquisition effect. In particular, the LP gas business benefited from effective price management, and we were able to capture increased demand driven by seasonal factors. These were the principal factors behind the significant improvement compared with the fourth quarter.
Watanabe [Q]: In terms of the relative magnitude of the improvement drivers, is it fair to say that the order would be electronics first, Coregas second, and then the other factors?

Looking at revenue by gas category, for example based on the mix shown on page 30, it appears that bulk, on-site and packaged gases recorded relatively strong revenue growth. This suggests that price management may have progressed broadly across the portfolio rather than being concentrated in a particular gas category. Could you provide some additional color on this point?

As a follow-up, regarding the LP gas business in Oceania, CP prices increased significantly during the AprilJune period, which I assume created a favorable environment for price increases. On the other hand, CP prices appear to have declined heading into July. Could you comment on the sustainability of the pricing benefits and your outlook going forward? Thank you.

Watanabe [A]: Thank you for your question.
First, regarding which gas categories have seen progress in price management in Asia, let me provide some background.
As we explained when presenting our Medium-Term Management Plan, we have been continuously pursuing Operational Excellence initiatives since the previous plan. At the same time, we have been rolling out price management best practices across the Group, and these efforts have gradually become embedded throughout our operations. We believe the benefits of these initiatives are now becoming increasingly visible. By gas category, price management has been effective across both bulk and packaged gases. If we were to distinguish between the two, the contribution has been somewhat greater in bulk gases. That said, the difference is not particularly significant, and we would characterize the improvement as being broadly based across our gas businesses.
As for the LP gas business in Oceania, Mr. Kubo will provide further details.

However, we believe that we have been managing these impacts effectively through our price management initiatives. There may be some volatility on a month-to-month basis. However, when viewed on a quarterly basis, we believe that profitability from the second quarter onward should be maintained at a level broadly comparable to that of the first quarter.

My second question relates to the Japan segment.
The segment recorded a decline in profit and a deterioration in profitability both year on year and compared with the previous quarter. Based on your earlier comments, my understanding is that the primary factor was lower revenue from electronics-related equipment and engineering projects. Are there any other factors that contributed to the weaker performance? In addition, regarding the electronics-related equipment and engineering business, my understanding is that several large projects are expected to be completed this fiscal year. Looking ahead, do you see opportunities to offset this decline, and are there specific initiatives being taken to generate new business opportunities?
Finally, could you also comment on recent trends in the electronics gases business? Watanabe [A]: First, regarding the electronics business, as noted in the presentation materials, revenue

In addition, energy costs in Japan have been rising, and my understanding is that the impact may become more pronounced in the July-September period rather than in April-June. Could you comment on the current progress of passing through these cost increases to customers, your level of confidence in doing so, and whether you believe profitability can be maintained going forward?

impact from the electronics-related equipment and engineering business. As for price pass-through, there is generally a time lag before higher costs can be reflected in selling prices. That said, the extent to which we can recover higher costs depends on the magnitude of increases in electricity and other energy costs. In some cases, we are able to pass through the increase in full, while in others we may not be able to fully recover the additional costs. Accordingly, the effectiveness of price pass-through will depend to some extent on the future trajectory of electricity prices and broader inflationary pressures.

Compared with your internal expectations, could you briefly comment on which regions performed better than expected and which regions were weaker than expected? Our impression is that Asia-Oceania and Europe performed relatively well, while Japan and North America were broadly in line with expectations. Could you confirm whether that understanding is correct? In addition, looking ahead to the second quarter, are there any regions that you currently view as particularly strong or, conversely, any regions where you remain cautious? Finally, given the recent situation in the Middle East, there have been reports of customers bringing forward shipments. If any demand originally expected in the second quarter was pulled forward into the first quarter, I would appreciate any comments on that as well. Thank you.

Kubo [A]: Regarding the outlook for the second quarter, as mentioned earlier, the equipment business experienced a temporary lull in the first quarter, which resulted in a significant decline compared with the fourth quarter.
At the same time, we did not see any material projects that had originally been planned for the second quarter being pulled forward into the first quarter. Therefore, we expect second-quarter performance to progress broadly in line with our plan. Our quarterly results can be affected by the timing of large equipment and engineering projects, and a significant contribution from such projects is often recorded in the fourth quarter. For the second quarter, however, we currently expect performance to be broadly at the first-quarter level, with the potential for modest volume growth.

For example, in Japan, we have seen announcements of major semiconductor investments, including projects by Power Semiconductor and capacity expansions by memory manufacturers. From an external perspective, semiconductor-related investment activity appears to be increasing significantly. At the same time, based on your comments today, I do not necessarily get the impression that large projects at NSHD are increasing to the same extent. We have also seen cases such as Air Liquide securing the Micron project, suggesting that competition may be intensifying. Could you comment on whether semiconductor-related project opportunities and order intake are actually increasing, and how you view the competitive environment for contracts related to semiconductor manufacturing facilities? Thank you.
