2026-08-31 Duke Energy Foundation invests $180,000 in workforce training to support growth across South Carolina

Grants aim to help address labor needs by training technical college students to help meet demand as state continues to grow Meeting the demands of South Carolina's continued growth will require more than new infrastructure. It will require a skilled workforce ready to build it. To help strengthen that talent pipeline, Duke Energy Foundation is awarding $180,000 in grants to nine technical colleges across the state to expand construction-related training, enhance hands-on learning opportunities and support industry-recognized certifications in high-demand fields. Our view: "Projects like our new natural gas facility in Anderson County will help power South Carolina's growth while creating good jobs in the communities we serve," said Tim Pearson, Duke Energy South Carolina president. "The construction of that facility over the next few years will need potentially thousands of highly skilled trade workers to complete, and these grants will help ensure local students and workers are

2026-08-19 NOAA confirms hottest month on record across the contiguous U.S.

Customers can access tools to track energy use and find assistance resources As high temperatures continue across much of North Carolina and South Carolina, Duke Energy is reminding customers about tools that can help them stay informed about their energy use and connect them with assistance programs if they need help. The reminder comes as federal climate data shows July 2026 was the hottest month ever recorded across the contiguous United States, according to NOAA. "Summer weather can have a significant impact on how much energy a household uses," said Kendal Bowman, Duke Energy's North Carolina president. "We're helping customers stay informed with tools that explain how weather and other factors can affect energy use, while also connecting customers with assistance resources when they need support." Tools that help customers stay informed Duke Energy offers several tools that can help customers monitor and better understand their energy use. Bill Insights in the Duke Energy app

2026-08-17 Duke Energy thanks Greater Cincinnati customers for their patience and support as storm workers restored power after rare derecho

More than 2,000 electric lineworkers, tree trimmers and support personnel helped restore more than 340,000 customer power outages across Greater Cincinnati after multiple severe storms caused widespread damage throughout the region last week. Here's what happened Storm workers restored 85% of customer outages less than 48 hours after last Tuesday afternoon's derecho caused extensive damage to the electric system. It was the region's first derecho since 2012 and was followed by additional storm fronts that caused further outages and slowed power restoration efforts. According to the National Weather Service, a derecho is a rare, widespread, long-lived windstorm associated with fast-moving thunderstorms. It can produce damage similar to a tornado, but typically along a broad, straight path. Our view Amy Spiller, Duke Energy Ohio/Kentucky president: "We appreciate the patience, understanding and support our customers showed as crews worked through extensive damage and challenging weather
