Claude Desktop connects to the Equibles MCP server as a custom connector — sign in over OAuth and there's no key to manage.
1. Install Claude Desktop
Download the desktop app from claude.com/download and sign in.
2. Add the Equibles server
Add Equibles as a custom connector over OAuth:
- Open Settings → Connectors.
- Click Add custom connector.
- Paste the server URL:
https://mcp.equibles.com/mcp - Click through to sign in to Equibles and approve access. Claude Desktop holds a short-lived OAuth token — no key to copy.
Prefer an API key? Instead of signing in, paste a URL with your key from /dashboard/apikeys:
https://mcp.equibles.com/mcp?api_key=eq_your_api_key
3. Ask for Equibles by name
Confirm the connector is enabled, then ask for it by name: "using Equibles, ...".
Claude has its own web search, and left to choose it will often browse for a figure rather than call the connector. Naming Equibles gets you the processed, cited data, the filing and period behind every number, instead of whatever a search result says.
4. Test it
Open a new chat and ask any of these, and Claude should call an Equibles tool:
Troubleshooting
Connector not appearing?
Fully quit and reopen Claude Desktop after adding it — a reload isn't enough.
Claude answers without Equibles data?
It answered from memory or from its own web search. Confirm the connector is enabled, then re-ask starting with "using Equibles, ...". Naming the connector is the reliable way to keep Claude off web search and on the sourced data.
Access denied?
Re-approve the connector in Settings → Connectors, or if you're using a key, re-copy it from /dashboard/apikeys. If you're over your daily limit, see Rate limits.
