Compare earnings calls over time

What changed since the last call? Compare management's language, priorities, outlook, and answers, then check which changes have support in reported results.

The flow

  1. Choose the exact calls. Use ListInvestorEvents, filtered to EarningsCall, to identify the latest completed call and its predecessor. Record each event ID, call date, and returned fiscal period. Check transcript availability; if a quarter is missing, name the gap before comparing with an older available call.
  2. Get the overview for those periods. GetEarningsBrief and GetEarningsCallToneAndThemes provide the published summaries, tone, hedging, and themes. Pass each selected call's fiscalYear and fiscalQuarter. Their recent results include only approved coverage, so check the returned periods. A brief's derived narrative shift is a starting point for inspection.
  3. Read the evidence from both calls. Use GetInvestorEventTranscript with each event ID. Follow limit / offset paging through the complete transcript, including Q&A. Pair short passages on the same topic, preserving dates and speaker labels. Separate management remarks from analyst questions and note changes in who spoke.
  4. Check what changed in the outlook and results. GetGuidance distinguishes management's guidance updates; GetFinancialStatement and GetCompanyKpis supply reported results. Keep the call's reported quarter separate from the future period being guided, and compare figures only on matching metric, unit, duration, and GAAP/non-GAAP basis.
  5. Explain the change. Compare demand, pricing, margins, capacity, spending, risks, and management's responses to recurring questions. Support each tone judgment with passages from both calls. Treat tone scores and keyword mention counts as context; describe the language and emphasis the evidence shows.

Prompt

Compare NVIDIA's latest completed earnings call with the immediately preceding call. Start with the call dates, fiscal periods, and transcript coverage. Show what changed in management's tone, confidence, hedging, priorities, guidance, and answers to analysts. Read the full prepared remarks and Q&A, and build a table with topic, previous statement, current statement, what changed, supporting results, and source links. Quote management from both calls and separate observations from your interpretation. Flag missing quarters, incomplete transcripts, speaker changes, and financial figures that are not comparable. Finish with the most consequential changes and the questions to follow next quarter.

What you get

A comparison by topic, with dated evidence from both calls, the financial context behind the changes, and a short list of issues to monitor. If only part of a transcript or the requested scoring coverage is available, the answer states that limit.
