Check management's promises

Did management deliver what it said it would? Build a record of the original commitments, then check each against later disclosures and comparable results.

The flow

  1. Set the comparison and assessment date. ListInvestorEvents, filtered to EarningsCall, identifies the earlier and later completed calls. Record their IDs, dates, and fiscal periods. An assessment date makes clear which disclosures were available when you judged the outcome.
  2. Extract the original commitments. Read the earlier call with GetInvestorEventTranscript, paging through prepared remarks and Q&A. Capture each commitment's wording, speaker, target, scope, conditions, and deadline. Separate measurable commitments and numerical guidance from longer-term ambitions. Keep the period of the call separate from the period or milestone being promised.
  3. Recover the original guidance and later updates. GetGuidance returns management's available as-announced ranges and provenance. GetEarningsCallEvent, with each selected call's fiscalYear and fiscalQuarter, locates its linked earnings release. Preserve the original target alongside any subsequent revision or withdrawal, with the date and explanation for the change.
  4. Verify what happened. Read the later call and use GetFinancialStatement, GetCompanyKpis, and the original disclosures. SearchDocument and ReadDocumentLines help inspect the relevant passage in a returned document. Check exact reporting dates, metric definitions, units, and GAAP/non-GAAP basis. Label derived actuals and later restatements; distinguish evidence available at the assessment date from subsequent information.
  5. Assign an evidence-backed outcome. Compare numerical guidance with the original range and state whether the actual was above, within, or below it. Explain whether that direction satisfies the stated objective: a higher cost is different from higher revenue. For operational milestones, cite the completion evidence and management's explanation for any delay. Record revisions separately from the outcome against the original commitment.

Outcome labels

Outcome Evidence needed
Met Comparable results or milestone evidence satisfy the stated objective by its deadline.
Missed The deadline has passed and comparable evidence shows the objective was not achieved.
Partially met Defined parts were achieved by the deadline; comparable evidence shows which parts were not.
Pending The deadline has not passed and completion has not yet been established.
Not verifiable The target, deadline, comparable results, or source coverage is insufficient to judge.

Silence in a later call belongs under Not verifiable until other evidence settles the commitment. A revised target stays visible alongside the original; it does not reset the original deadline or erase a miss. An ambition with no measurable objective or deadline remains an item to monitor.

Prompt

Did NVIDIA's management deliver the commitments made on the previous earnings call? Compare that call with the latest completed call and the relevant reported results. Set an assessment date, read both complete transcripts, and list the original promise, speaker, call date, target period or deadline, conditions, later evidence, outcome, management's explanation, and source links. Use Met, Missed, Partially met, Pending, or Not verifiable. Show the original and revised guidance separately, compare like-for-like metrics and reporting periods, and label derived or subsequently restated figures. Treat missing evidence and an unfinished deadline explicitly. Close with the commitments to check on the next call.

What you get

A commitment table you can audit: what was promised, when it was due, what the evidence establishes, and what management said about the outcome. The table distinguishes management's claims from reported results and your assessment.
